A St. Petersburg homeowner took matters into his own hands, firing shots at a burglar and then holding him at gunpoint until police arrived.
Officers arrived at the home around 4:30 a.m. this morning and placed Bryan Remley under arrest.
According to a police report, he broke into Joseph Cihak's home in the middle of the night – only to be confronted by Cihak when he got up to use the restroom.
Cihak saw Remley digging through his living room and then fired two shots after he claims Remley charged him. Cihak's wife called 911 after hearing the commotion.
Police say Remley was unable to get out of the house, so Cihak held him at gunpoint until police officers arrived. Cihak said that Remley tried to negotiate to let him go, apparently saying he would come back and "mow his lawn."
Remley, who was carrying a small knife, was charged with armed residential burglary and violation of probation.
It's also the second time that someone has burglarized the home this week. The couple said they would be armed and ready if it happened again.
