CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A commuter was permanently disfigured after another CTA passenger slashed him in the face with a hunting knife, the Sun-Times is reporting.

Kevin Lee, 55, allegedly took the knife out and slashed the man from the mouth to the nose on a CTA bus near 79th and State about 7:40 p.m. on Wednesday, Cook County prosecutors said Saturday.

Prosecutors said the attack was unprovoked and that the two men were strangers.

The victim underwent reconstructive surgery but will be permanently disfigured, prosecutors said. He also received 20 stitches.

Police found Lee right after the attack with the knife, and covered in blood, prosecutors said.

He was allegedly identified by the victim.

Lee has eight prior criminal convictions, including one for possession of controlled substance and possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

He was released on parole on July 20 for an attempted burglary conviction.

Lee, of the 7900 block of South Carpenter, was ordered held in lieu of $250,000 bail on a Saturday by Judge Laura Sullivan.
