"24" star Mary Lynn Rajskub came to Tampa to show her "other" side.
"The range of emotions, that I go through on a daily basis, you have no idea," she said.
The character she plays on TV, Chloe O'Brien, is the nerdy, rude, weird sidekick to Jack Bauer.
Mary Lynn, the comic, is introspective.
"There's a lot of silly goofy fantasies of mine, it's very personal. It's a lot from my personal life," she says.
She arrives in Tampa just weeks after the summer revival of 24 scored solid-enough ratings to stoke talk of a full-fledged season.
Certainly, her 24 fame helps sell tickets, but for her, being on stage is a return to what taught her to be who she is.
"I was so scared growing up," she said. "I was doing performance art. And people started to laugh at different parts and I didn't even know I was being funny."
Stand-up comedy, she says, is much harder than acting.
"There's nothing like standing on stage in front of a live audience and making them laugh."
Though she says her socially awkward self helped inspire Chloe, she doesn't love how people call her Chloe everywhere she goes.
The character became likeable over time.
"I really didn't think I'd be doing that many episodes of 24. The difference is when they started writing my character to be loyal to Jack, and that's when it sort of gave the character dimension."
Will there be another season of 24? Don't laugh at the idea.
"I hope so. I don't see why there wouldn't be. It certainly did well. The appetite for it is good. The shows came out great."
Have they come to her yet, though?
"They have not come to me. If you hear anything let me know."
Tickets still available for her shows at Sidesplitters comedy club in North Tampa.
