Survivor Of Carjacking Crash Speaks

Posted: Updated:

NORTH PHILADELPHIA-One of the survivors of last week's carjacking crash that killed three children spoke with FOX 29’s Chris O’Connell on Thursday.

Thelma Brown says it's a day that changed her life 'forever.'

The 69-year-old who is recovering from her injuries is still coming to grips with the reality that three children were killed and her life was spared.

"There is no way I could have gotten out of the way of that car without God’s help because I was standing right there,” she said.

Brown remembers almost everything, from the time the carjacked SUV hit her, to seeing bodies of her friend's children spread over the North Philadelphia intersection.

"Police officers crying, rescue squad people crying, you never seen anything like that,” she said.

She’s known as Miss Brown in the neighborhood. Thankfully, Miss Brown is now home from the hospital, recovering from a broken leg and a broken heart.

"When someone is so close to you as those kids were and that happened to them that is something you cannot process,” she said.

She was the lucky one. Brown was with 15-year-old Keiearra Williams, 10-year-old Joseph Reed and 7-year-old Terrance Moore when they were run over while selling fruit for a local youth group. The children’s mother, Keisha Williams, still remains in a coma as a result of the crash.

"Those were the only two sons she had and her oldest daughter are gone,” she said.

As for the two suspects charged in their deaths, Miss Brown says she holds no anger.

"Ain't but one person going to forgive them that's God,” she said. "They are going to get what they deserve, so no sense me being angry with them for killing those kids."

Brown tells FOX 29’s Chris O’Connell she wants to be the first one there when Keisha Williams wakes up from her coma. She believes Williams may have been struck while trying to save her children from being hit by that SUV.
