Clearwater has a new face heading up its police department.
Daniel Slaughter was announced as the new police chief Tuesday morning.
He was promoted from within the department, where he most recently headed up the patrol division.
Slaughter has been with the department for nearly 22 years.
He replaces former chief Tony Holloway, who is now with the St. Petersburg Police Department.
"This agency has never been closer to the citizens than we are now, and it will continue to be mission of this agency to build on that relationship," Slaughter said.
Slaughter will begin his new position on August 7th, when he is sworn in during a city council meeting.
