Suspect In Wellness Center Shooting Charged With Murder

The man accused of the deadly rampage at the Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital campus on Thursday is officially charged with murder.

The shooting happened in a 3rd floor Psychiatric office in the Sister Marie Lenahan Mercy Wellness Center, which is across the street from Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital on the 1500 block of Lansdowne Avenue.

Richard Plotts,49, was arraigned bedside on Saturday night at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Police say Plotts opened fire during an appointment.  According to authorities, his doctor, Lee Silverman, pulled his own gun and shot back.

Silverman suffered a graze wound, but Plott's case worker, Theresa Hunt,43, was killed.
