WWII-era plane crash leaves two injured in Coweta Co.

NEWNAN, Ga. - Officials are investigating the crash of a World War II-era plane in Coweta County on Saturday afternoon.

A spokesperson for the Federal Aviation Administration says that the Ryan ST3KR crashed around 3:45 p.m. near Sewell Mill and Fuller Gordon roads. Fire crews were able to extricate the two occupants from the open canopy aircraft. The two were flown to an Atlanta area hospital.

Investigators were out investigating the 1942 aircraft. Witnesses tell them that the plane lost power during the flight.

The plane is registered to Larry Lee of Atlanta. The names and conditions of those aboard were not made available Saturday evening.
