The walls are up and construction is nearly finished.
The Mall at University Town Center will open in three months, on October 16. It is located between Sarasota and Manatee counties, and general manager Octavio Ortiz says it is in an area that has needed it.
"This is a great location. When you look at the access from the highway, from the infrastructure in the existing retail that is already here," Ortiz said.
The Mall at University Town Center will open in three months on October 16.
It is located between Sarasota and Manatee County.
Mall general manager Octavio Ortiz said it is an area that has needed this mall.
He adds that the market there is underserved.
"This is going to fill the void in this market not only in Sarasota, but Bradenton, and it gives people a destination in this market," he said.
If it does turn into a destination spot, Ortiz said it can only help the area.
"When you look at the growth here, there is so much for growth capabilities over the future," he said.
The mall has already filled 90 percent of its retail spots.
"We will have Macy's, Dillards and Saks 5th Avenue. They are both on the second levels and will have bigger foot prints that existed," Ortiz said.
Those are the stores they will officially tell us about.
The Cheesecake Factory, BRIO Tuscan Grille, The Capital Grille, Kona Grill and Seasons 52 will also call the new mall home.
Ortiz said the public is in store for a pleasant surprise.
"I have never been in a market that the general public has been so excited for the shopping center," he said.
