ST. PETERSBURG (FOX 13) -
Charlie Crist may be looking ahead to the November election, but his Democratic opponent, Nan Rich, thinks she can pull off a big upset in the primary.
Rich spoke to a group of Democrats Thursday night in St. Petersburg.
She talked about her vision for the future of Florida and her top priorities if she wins the election.
Rich is the former minority leader of the Florida senate.
She's still hoping to debate Crist before next month's primary.
"He's a newly-minted Democrat and people are interested in knowing what his positions are, because so many of them have changed from what they were previously," Rich said.
Charlie Crist has repeatedly refused to debate Rich. During a stop in Sarasota Wednesday, he was asked why.
"Listen, Rick Scott is the opponent. He certainly seems to think I'm his and I'm focused on him. I do it out of a sense of duty to the voters of Florida. If we're going to win against a $100 million onslaught, we better be focused on it and I am," Crist said.
Crist went on to say he has no plans to meet with Rich before the primary is over.
Voters head to the polls on August 26th.
