She wore a T-shirt, a bright smile, and a ton of hair spray.
"I am sorry for what I did to the ozone in the 80's," Lynne Austin joked.
But it's no joke that Lynne has no regrets. She was the original 'Hooters girl.'
"I think our alumni is 350,000," she continued. "The line starts here, and that's a cool thing."
Remember 'Star Search?' Lynne was on it. And Playboy? She was in it.
"It was a blast," she said with a smile.
From her kitchen, she'll joke about anything -- even her whirlwind marriage to baseball's Darren Daulton in the 80's.
"But we got the greatest thing. I have my son, who's upstairs hanging out. So yeah, you know, there's always a reason. That was it."
So with one child from her first marriage and five more between Lynne and her husband now, she's taking time to relax.
It's a change.
"This is the first time I've ever been off this amount of time, almost 15 months," she continued.
Along with Hooters, she did morning radio for nearly 20 years. And before that, she was a frustrated office worker.
"I was the world's worst receptionist, the worst," she laughed.
Then the six friends who founded Hooters saw her in a bikini contest.
"So, yeah, they convinced me to quit, and I did the best thing, the best thing I ever did."
And to the critics?
"You're going to walk into a place they have on running shorts and a tank top, and that's going to offend
you?" she said. "I don't get it. Shut up! That's what I say."
Lynne's clearly still saying what's on her mind.
No matter how many follow, she'll always be 'the original.'
