Caught On Camera: Dramatic Water Rescue In California

Posted: Updated:

Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.-A dramatic rescue was caught on a Go-Pro camera in Rancho Palos Verdes, California.

The water was rough at Abalone Cove when Rob McNulty,46, and his friends went to visit on Sunday. On their visit, they witnessed a teenager accidentally fall into the cove. The teen was soon unconscious in the churning water.

McNulty's friend Gary Golding tried to jump in to save him, but was thrown against a rock. That’s when McNulty jumped in himself and was able to pull the teen to safety.

"I didn't want to go anywhere near it,” he said. "I thought, 'this is his only chance.' the next thing I knew my feet left the rocks and in I went, and I grabbed him."

Golding's friend Hillary Swanson caught the whole incident on tape.

"I was really scared," she said.

The men refused to give up on the teen.

"Rob had said, 'I think he's dead,'" Golding said. "And I said no, we're not going to give up on this kid."

McNulty was able to perform CPR on the teen and revived him. Lifeguards showed up to the scene and he was taken to the hospital.

The teen, who wants to remain anonymous, is still recovering.

Doctors say if the teen spent another minute in the water, he would of died.
