Feature film being shot in New River by film students

NEW RIVER, Ariz. - At a table in the corner ASU, UofA, and Scottsdale Community College students are shooting a feature film.

At the Roadrunner Restaurant and Saloon in New River, some of the regulars got to see something a little different.

They're shooing a movie in the corner.

"At Dusk is about a couple who find a camcorder while they are hiking, and they find footage on the camcorder of two previous hikers getting murdered by some unidentifiable force," said director Vinny Viti.

The movie is a crime thriller mystery that is written, shot, edited, acted, and produced entirely by students.

"This is really exciting, what I love to do, it is like you are a part of something, and you are working towards this one goal of making a really good movie," said Christine Conger.

The students raised the $2,000 budget online through a crowd funding website along with some contributions from local businesses.

"It has been absolutely crazy, telling myself is this real? A pretty surreal experience... and it's just awesome to see all our hard work bloom on the set now," said Ryan Casey.

Now the students have another goal, and that is to raise the profile of Arizona as an incredible place to shoot movies.

"There is a big film life, but not in Arizona, we're trying to bring it here. So everybody is trying to bring that to the table from the beginning," said Viti.

The film will finish filming in August, and it's expected to be in theatres this winter.
