Christie's Sandy recovery chief resigning

Posted: Updated:

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - Gov. Chris Christie's aide in charge of the state's Superstorm Sandy recovery is leaving the job for family reasons.

Christie's office announced Tuesday that Terrence Brody is replacing Marc Ferzan as the executive director of the Governor's Office of Recovery and Rebuilding.

Ferzan is becoming a teacher at the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy at the University of Virginia, where his wife, Kimberly Ferzan, has joined the law school faculty.

Ferzan, who previously worked for Christie at both the U.S. Attorney's Office and the state government, was named to the post soon after Superstorm Sandy in 2012.

Christie has lauded Ferzan for overseeing rebuilding of boardwalks and homes, though there have been complaints about problems in the state's use of federal money to rebuild homes.
