Tampa teen now on house arrest in Israel

Posted: Updated:
TAMPA (FOX 13) - The Tampa teenager jailed in Israel will spend nine days on house arrest.

Police say, Tarik Abu Khdeir threw rocks at them, so they went after him. Video captured by amateurs shows officers holding him down and beating him up. His mother says they crossed the line.

She says her son suffered bad bruises and other injuries. He was reunited with his family on Sunday.

The State Department knows about the situation, and is troubled by the allegations. They're calling for a speedy investigation into whether the officers used excessive force.

Khdeir is a sophomore in High School at UAF in Tampa and is an American-born citizen.
