Severe Thunderstorm Watch Posted Until 10 P.M.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 10 p.m. for eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware as pop-up storms move into the area.

The National Weather Service has also posted a Flash Flood Watches for much of the area into Friday morning.

Meanwhile, an earlier Tornado Warning for northeastern Northampton County, Pa., and central Warren County, N.J., was allowed to expire at 2:30 p.m. Doppler radar had indicated a storm was capable of producing a tornado about 10 miles north of Easton.

The Severe Thunderstorm Watch means that conditions are favorable for thunderstorms containing 1-inch or larger hail and/or wind gusts of at least 58 mph.

People in the watch area should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce tornadoes.
