People in Southwest Fulton County tell FOX 5 they are sick of signs and they are asking for the city’s help to clean up the clutter.
Advertisements, political ads and more are cluttering the roadways and causing eyesores.
FOX 5’s George Franco spoke with someone who says there’s a connection between these signs and crime in the area.
State representative Ladawn Jones is waging what she calls a war on signs in her district along Camp Creek Parkway and Interstate 285.
“If these signs are here then that means there must not be police protection. If there’s not police protection then they can break into cars, break into businesses, shop lift from our stores and we don’t want that,” said Jones.
Jones says cleaning up little things like illegal signs will go a long way to keep the Camp Creek area flourishing.
Posting an illegal sign in the particular area is punishable with a $150 fine. Members of the Camp Creek Business Association say code enforcement from Atlanta and East Point are constantly removing illegal signs and they are glad to help.
