NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - She moved on from 50 Cent's G-Unit and now she said goodbye to 'Love and Hip Hop NY,' but actress and R& B singer Olivia Longott is experiencing more success than ever before.

“It wasn’t a falling out. They didn’t understand what to do with R&B. The formula they were following for me was the rap formula and it doesn’t work for an R&B artist," said Longott about leaving the music label.

The Brooklyn native shot to fame when she was featured in several hit songs by rapper 50 Cent including 'The Candy Shop' and 'Best Friend.'

The lowest point of her career came after leaving G-Unit.

"It hurts to turn on the radio and hear all these people speculate," said Longott.

She made a comeback on reality TV which she admits is "different" as an original cast member. That stint ran its course.

“I have a new HBO series which is why I’m not doing Love and Hip Hop New York anymore," said Longott.

While she's busy with a new series, the Bayside High School and Five Towns College graduate was able to write a book- Release Me: My Life, My Words- and complete a new album.

“I just felt like it was the right time. I’ve been writing poetry since I was 14. I’ve always wanted to write childrens' books. I just switched and said I need to tell the story of everything.  said Longott.

Her new album is titled, Right One For You and a single is expected to be released in the next few weeks.

    The newest Internet sensation is Canadian singer Shawn Mendes. Born and raised in Toronto, Mendes, 15, says he would come home from school and spend hours watching YouTube users cover songs and learn how to play the guitar.  The teen's music went viral after posting a Vine clip of himself singing the chorus to Justin Bieber’s “As Long as You Love Me.” The next morning, Mendes had 10,000 likes and followers.

    Fruit packaged by the Wawona Packing Company out of Cutler, California and sold at stores across the country is being voluntarily recalled. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration says there is a possibility the recalled products may be contaminated with listeria. No illnesses have been linked to the recall. Certain lots of peaches, nectarines, plums and pluots sold at Trader Joe's, Costco, Sam's Club and Fresh Direct could be contaminated with the dangerous food-borne pathogen.
