Two-headed alligator in Tampa? Probably not, FWC says

Posted: Updated:
TAMPA (FOX 13) -

Here's something you don't see every day – let alone in our backyard. That is, if it's true.

Tampa Bay area resident Justin Arnold claims he was walking his dog along the Hillsborough River in Seminole Heights when he spotted an unusual sight: A two-headed alligator.

He posted the picture on Facebook and it's been shared out thousands of times. Arnold is apparently an artist and runs a Tumblr where he posts sculptures of unusual creatures, so the picture raises several questions.

The same picture appeared in today's TBT newspaper.

In the description under the picture, which he also posted on Facebook, he claims he saw it while walking his dog. Other viewers reached out to FOX 13 to say they've seen something similar in the area before.

FOX 13 spoke to Florida Fish and Wildlife officials on Monday. They said a two-headed alligator is certainly possible, but they're skeptical about the photo.

Calls placed to Arnold on Monday morning have not been returned.
