DUI boating patrols this weekend

Posted: Updated:
Be careful on the water this weekend, or it could cost you.

The Florida Fish & Wildlife will have officers patrolling the waters, looking for any boaters that may be intoxicated or on drugs.

The goal is to reduce the number of alcohol and drug related accidents on the water.

Officers say 15 percent of all boating deaths are a direct result of boating under the influence.

Remember this number: 0.08.   That's the legal limit for DUI on land... and on the water.  That's only about two drinks.

If officers find you over the limit,  they can arrest you on the spot.

They hit the water this morning, and they plan to be out there all weekend long.
