Violence in Iraq is spiking gasoline prices. The national average price of $3.67 per gallon is the highest price for this time of year since 2008.

Those looking to save money may want to consider taking part in National "Dump the Pump" Day, when people all across the nation are encouraged to ditch driving, and save an average of $10,000 a year by riding public transportation.

Thursday, Tampa Bay residents can enjoy a free, one-day unlimited ride card in exchange for a gasoline receipt.

The number of riders across the country is increasing every month, with the number of Hillsborough County's HART bus rides projected to reach nearly 15 million this year.

Broken down even further, they say HART riders travel 242,500 miles on an average weekday.
