Governor Scott visits Tampa to talk human trafficking

Posted: Updated:
Governor Scott is coming to Tampa today,  to focus on the awareness and prevention of human trafficking.

The governor will meet with  a local prevention and recovery organization at 10 a.m.  at the Portico.  That's at 1001 North Florida Avenue in downtown Tampa.

The highlight of his visit will be to discuss increased funding for prevention and recovery facilities in this year's state budget.

The governor committed $3 million for safe houses and rehab services to help protect children who have been victimized by human trafficking.
The budget also provided $6 million to recruit volunteers to represent more than 2,000 vulnerable children through court proceedings, and $2 million was allotted to the PACE Center for Girls.

Expect some traffic and tight security in that area.
