LOUISVILLE, Ga. (AP) - Jefferson County authorities say a 58-year-old woman is dead after being exposed to an insecticide.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said this week Rosa Gilmore Green died after being taken to the emergency room at Jefferson County Hospital. Three children were also taken to another hospital, and one remained in critical but stable condition.

Authorities say a family member used an insecticide called Fumitoxin in Green's home Wednesday.

Sheriff's Capt. Robert Chalker told Morris News Service the insecticide comes in tablet form and when exposed to moisture in the atmosphere can emit phosphine gas. The news agency says it's typically used in grain storage bins with the manual saying it shouldn't be used in homes.

Authorities say the hospital's emergency room was evacuated and employees decontaminated. It reopened Thursday.
