TAMPA (FOX 13) -
Three Taco Bell employees were locked in a freezer during a robbery early Saturday morning, and one said if she would have had a gun, she would have shot him.
The suspect got in through the back door while some of the employees were taking out the trash.
One employee said, "He came in, told the other employees to go to the back and lay down on the ground, then told me to give him the money and told me to open the safe."
She complied since the suspect was pointing a revolver at her. He then ordered the three of them into a freezer, took their cell phones and ran off.
They crew was only locked in the freezer for about five minutes, but it gave the suspect plenty of time to get away.
Tampa Police arrived around 8:00 a.m. at the Taco Bell on 50th Street.
The suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash. One of the employees said, "It was a pretty good amount."
Police released a picture from a surveillance camera that shows the suspect. He had a shirt wrapped around his face and a pair of underwear wrapped around his hand and the gun possibly hiding a tattoo on his hand.
Investigators interviewed the employees. One said, " I told them everything and I told them if y'all would've gave me a gun, I would have shot him right there."
There were only three employees working the new Taco Bell breakfast shift. The manager said she's positive it was not an inside job since she knows all of her employees.
She said she's glad he's gone, and added, "I hope he doesn't come back. Now I know to always keep that door closed and take the trash out through the front."
Police described the suspect as: a black male, 6'0"-6'2", 33-35 years old, 170-190 pounds, short black hair, wearing a baggy blue t-shirt or dry-fit shirt with a white exterior printed tag design on the back neck area, dark blue jeans, dark colored boots, a white skully cap with a gray tank-top wrapped around his face.
