A front-loader flipped over at a Clearwater construction site this afternoon, injuring the driver.
According to Clearwater Fire & Rescue, the 32-year-old suffered a leg injury when the Bobcat-style loader flipped into an elevator shaft and came to rest upside-down, pinning the worker.
CFR's Technical Rescue Team worked to stabilize the huge piece of machinery and then slowly lift it off his leg with the help of special air bags.
The man, who lives in Brooksville, was taken by helicopter to Bayfront. He suffered a severe lower left leg injury, firefighters said.
The building at 400 Cleveland Street is a former bank building, which is now empty.
