State transportation leaders expect a smoother ride through a usually congested portion of the Veterans Expressway come Saturday.
Crews are removing tollbooths and coin baskets at the Waters and Hillsborough Avenue ramps, and the Anderson Mainline locations.
This is being done to prevent congestion during peak commute hours and to prevent accidents.
Saturday morning, the conversion should be complete, and all drivers will pay tolls either with a Sunpass or toll-by-plate.
It will take several weeks, if not months, to remove the existing toll plazas, so drivers are urged to continue the posted 25 mph speed limit through those zones until the booths can be completely removed.
Later this summer, three other locations will be transformed into a "no-cash" system:
