Officials ID man fatally struck by Orange Line train

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A man was fatally struck by a CTA Orange Line train on the West Side Tuesday morning.

The 59-year-old man was struck by a southbound train near the Ashland station at 8:40 a.m., according to police and CTA officials.

Robert Becker, of the 4700 block of South Ada Street, was dead at the scene, a spokesman for the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office said.

Service was temporarily suspended between Western and Halsted as a result of the crash, according to the CTA.
