Milton family fosters injured puppy

Posted: Updated:
MILTON, Ga. - When he was only weeks old, Buster was hit by a bus in South Georgia. Miraculously, his only injuries were two broken legs. But, that still required surgery and his owners could not afford to pay for that surgery. They took the little dog to the vet and asked it be put down.

Instead, the veterinarian contacted Marybeth Rathbun with Rescue Me Georgia. The rescue group agreed it would take Buster – only if it could find a foster family for it. That's when Kelly Bibby arrived.

Bibby, the busy mother of three boys under the age of sis, two dogs and a cat knew the last thing she needed was a foster dog but there was something in Buster’s eyes she couldn’t resist.

For the past month, Buster has made himself right at home at the Bibbys in Milton. After undergoing two surgeries, he now frolicks with the boys and loves playing with the Bibbys other two dogs, too.

As much as Kelly would love to keep Buster, she says she hopes to find him a permanent home so she can continue to foster other animals in need.

Rescue Me Georgia currently has 25 foster families, but the group is always looking for more people to help. It says the fosters are the group’s lifeline providing a  transition from the shelter to a forever home for hundreds of animals.
