Cash pours in to support Aqua Quest crew jailed in Honduras
TARPON SPRINGS (FOX 13) -
Money continues to pour in to support five men from Tarpon Springs who are jailed in Honduras.
It's been 36 days since the crew of the Aqua Quest International was detained. Fox13 has learned that a "Go-Fund-Me" site has now raised more than $3,600 to help the group cover legal fees.
When the crew arrived to port in Puerto Lempira, law enforcement boarded their boat, detained six crew members and accused them of smuggling guns into Honduras. Admittedly there were several weapons on board: two hand guns, two shotguns and an M70ab2, which looks like an AK-47. They say they had the weapons to protect themselves from pirates. An appeals court in honduras is scheduled to hear their case sometime next week.
