FOX 13 has learned the names of the four finalists for the job of St. Petersburg’s Police Chief. They are:
Melanie Bevan, who is currently the Assistant Chief of the St. Petersburg Police Department. She has worked for the City of St. Petersburg for more than half her life. She calls herself a proven leader who has worked in every bureau of the police department.
Jerry Geier is currently a police chief in Goodyear, Arizona. He has 31 years of experience in law enforcement and lived in Florida for more than 40 years until moving to Arizona. He has been a police chief for two agencies and was director of a state police agency.
Terry Pierce is currently captain of the Montgomery County Police in Rockville, Maryland. He's been with his current agency for almost 24 years. It is the 30th largest police department in the country. He says he expects every member of his force to be an ambassador for the city.
Thaddeus Reddish is the assistant police chief in charge of professional standards for the New Haven, Connecticut Police Department. He has 22 years of service, 16 at the command level. He says community policing has been the hallmark of his successful career. He is the only minority candidate in the final four.
