A pilot escaped injury after driving his small plane into a retention pond this morning, deputies say.
Pasco Fire Rescue and Pasco Emergency Management say they responded to a crash at the Pilot Country neighborhood airport around 9:30 a.m. Crews found a Cessna 172 had hit the water at the end of a runway.
The plane was never in the air, they said.
There was a two-gallon fuel spill in the water.
