Rays' Wil Myers out for the next six to eight weeks

ST. PETERSBURG (FOX 13) -

The Rays’ Wil Myers has a stress fracture in his wrist and will miss the next six weeks, but the total time may stretch into eight weeks.

It's a two-month hit to a lineup that really can't take another shot.

So far this season, the Rays have had injuries to several players:

  • Pitcher Alex Cobb
  • Jeremy Hellickson, who is supposed to come back at the end of June
  • Matt Moore, who is done for the season.
  • Ben Zobrist was on the disabled list
  • Catcher Ryan Hannigan is also on the disabled list with a hamstring injury

And now Wil Myers is out for six weeks.

If I'm Joe Maddon, I would put in Kevin Kiermaier into Wil Myer's spot. Maddon has called Kiermaier the best defensive outfielder in the game. He is certainly better defensively in right field than Myers is.

He is quicker than Myers on the base paths. He doesn't have Myer's power and he does strike out a lot, but at this point I would take the strikeouts instead of the double plays this team seems to be hitting into with regularity.
