Rays sweep Red Sox at home

ST. PETERSBURG (FOX 13) - The Rays sweep the Red Sox, winning game 3 Sunday, 8-5.  The Rays enjoy a 4-game winning streak, sparked by Tampa Bay's first-ever stretch of three straight walk-off wins.

The momentum from the walk-off wins combined with the Red Sox rivalry energizes the Rays.

Pinch-hitter Sean Rodriguez hit the Rays tie breaking, 3-run home run in the seventh on Sunday.

With the Rays leading 8-3, Yunel Escobar hit a 2-run double then stole third which set off Red Sox players' tempers.

Former Ray Jonny Gomes charged Escobar and both benches cleared.  Gomes, Escobar and Rodriguez were all ejected.

Rays manager Joe Maddon maintains that its his teams job to score runs.  No lead can be considered safe.

As well as the Rays are playing, Boston suffers through its worst slump in two years.  The Red Sox have now lost 10 straight games.
