Family and friends remember Felecia Williams

TAMPA (FOX 13) - Her family chose a carriage fit for a princess to lay their princess to rest.

"It was very heart touching. I'm still kind of jittery. I'm very sad," said Lafunda Brooks.

Family and friends filled the Rock Church of God by Faith in Tampa.

Many had to stand as they said goodbye to their 9-year-old sugar plum.

"It is a beautiful thing," said said Ariel O Garcia. " It is very inspiring."

Ariel O Garcia, the family's attorney spoke for Felecia's mom.

"It is always great to have this kind of outpouring of love and compassion and support from the community it helps, but nothing replaces the loss of a child," said Garcia.

Temple Terrace police have remained tight lipped about their investigation.

Police said the suspect, Granville Ritchie, is locked up in Pinellas County on unrelated drug and sex charges.

With such a draining week the family's focus remained on their goodbyes.

"Yesterday and today was a celebration of a life of this beautiful young lady that was taken way too too soon in such a disrespectful manner," said Garcia.

Lafunda Brooks, a family friend, said little Felecia's death has hit home hard.

"For a nine-year-old you just kind of think about your own children and you just kind of reflect on that," said Brooks.

The carriage felt like a story book ending, but this closing chapter is a tragedy that Felicia's loved ones are still grasping to comprehend.

"It was heart touching, " said Brooks. "It is terrible just to think about losing a child we aren't supposed to bury our kids, our kids are supposed to bury us."
