Woman accused of selling flowers stolen from cemeteries

CARROLL COUNTY, Ga. -

A woman is accused of swiping floral arrangements from a number of cemeteries in Carroll County.

According to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, Eleanor Ashley, 55, would sell the stolen arrangements out of her home.

A family member says Ashley has been selling flowers for about 15 years, but investigators tell FOX 5 there’s no way of knowing exactly how many of those flowers were stolen.

“The day we actually made an arrest on her she had picked up several items from the cemeteries on that day,” said Chief Deputy Brad Robinson from the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office.

Ashley has been charged with six felonies, one for each of the items police actually saw her take from the cemetery. Taking anything from a grave site is considered a felony in the state of Georgia.
