Family members of a nine-year-old girl found dead along the bay near the Courtney Campbell Causeway brought balloons, flowers and candles to that site during a vigil Sunday night.
Felecia Williams, nine, of Tampa went missing between 5:30 and 6 p.m. Friday. Family members said her disappearance was reported to police around 9 p.m. that night.
Her body was found naked by a group of people fishing Saturday afternoon on the Clearwater side of the bridge.
Clearwater Police got that call at 3:23 p.m. Saturday afternoon, and have since deferred all questions to Temple Terrace investigators.
Police arrested the woman reported last seen with Williams. Ebony Wiley, 23, of Tampa is charged with providing false information to law enforcement during a missing person investigation.
She has since bonded out of jail.
"Wiley provided a number of conflicting statements which turned out to be false," Temple Terrace Police Chief Ken Albano said.
He would not answer specific questions relative to the case.
Albano said they have ruled out immediate family members as suspects and persons of interest.
"This is an isolated incident," Albano explained when asked if other parents should be worried about a suspect or suspects still out there.
When questioned why there was not an Amber Alert issued the night Williams was reported missing, Albano said, "It did not meet the criteria."
The Chief would not say why it did not meet Amber Alert criteria.
