Two arrested in Pinellas robbery, home invasion

PALM HARBOR (FOX 13) -

Pinellas County Sheriff's Deputies arrested two men tied to a home invasion and robbery Thursday morning.

Thomas Murphy, 27, and Joshua Ludes, 27, both have extensive drug and theft criminal histories.

Investigators said Murphy and Ludes knew the victim and targeted his home for drugs, money and guns.

It's unclear what, if anything, they got away with.

Neighbors said the victim was found in the middle of the street outside his home covered in blood.

Sheriff Bob Gualtieri said the sheriff's office had received a tip from the Drug Enforcement Agency three weeks ago about a pending home invasion at the victim's address.

"We had been talking to the people there," Sheriff Gualtieri explained. "They had moved out and had recently moved back in."

During the home invasion, the victim was hit in the head.

Investigators said both Murphy and Ludes were armed, one with a shotgun, the other with a pistol, and they covered their faces during the attack.

The victim was brought to the hospital and was released Thursday.

Neighbors said no one has returned to the house since then.
