TAMPA (FOX 13) -

Richard Boglin is surrounded by love.

"He's just a bright light and he's always shining," said his mother, Frenika Rackley.

Shining despite a dark prognosis.

"He was a premature baby. He came in the world at thirty-two and a half weeks. He wasn't able to breathe on his own because his lungs weren't developed," his mother explained.

His coach Sonia Gonzalez added, "Richard has what we call an intellectual disability, so he's in a self contained class with other kids that are like him."

However, while Richard has some developmental delays, he soars when it came to running.

"He has been doing the running long jump and the 100 meters and we just switched him for nationals to do the 100 and the 200," his coach said.

Now he's headed to The 2014 Special Olympics USA Games.

"I'm running the one hundred and two hundred," said Richard, who doesn't just run, he wins!

"He's taken home the gold every time he's done the 100 meters and he has made it to state competitions in orlando all four years that he's been doing it."

This is first time Richard is going national.

"Everything he's accomplished, it's like wow!" his mom exclaimed, as she got emotional.

So what's the big secret to Richard's success? Well, his mom said it's all in those magic yellow shoes.

"Those are his fast boat shoes, said his mom, "I put those on, I can do anything."

He's come so far thanks to the support and love of his entire family.

"I get emotional because it's like, this is the little boy that they said, he wouldn't make it. He wouldn't do this, he wouldn't do that and then he's doing so much regardless of his circumstances," his mom explained.

Beating the odds, thanks to his gift for running and his little magic shoes.

"I am so proud of him. I love you to the moon and back! I love you to pieces. You are one awesome kid and I'm glad that I'm able to be your mommy!"

Fox is a proud sponsor of The 2014 Special Olympics USA Games which will take place in New Jersey from June 14 - 21. Good luck to all of the inspirational athletes!
