TAMPA (FOX 13) -
Police in Tampa say social media has helped them find the mother of a toddler who was taken from her hospital bed, and hadn't been seen since.
Back on Saturday, 2-year-old Constance Bostick was admitted to St. Joseph's Children's Hospital for an unspecified procedure. An hour after the surgery, police say, the girl's mother removed the IVs and took the child -- against a doctor's advice.
Hospital staff asked police to check on the girl, but neither the mother nor the child have been seen since. Thursday, the girl was declared a ward of the state.
Police say the mother, 29-year-old Teosha Blackmon, was wanted on unrelated warrants for felony grand theft and a battery probation violation. They appealed to the media to share her photo this afternoon, and within hours, they tweeted that Blackmon had turned herself in and Constance was on her way to the hospital to be checked out by doctors.
"You've done it again, social media," the agency tweeted.
