Christie Talks Economy, Obama and 2016 Presidential Election

Posted: Updated:
Washington, D.C. (My9NJ) - Governor Christie was in Washing D.C. yesterday for the Peter Peterson Fiscal Summit where he along with former President Bill Clinton addressed the crowd in hopes of showing that the country’s economic problems should be solved in a bi-partisan way.

Even though this event was an economic summit, conversations quickly evolved into questions about politics in general. When Christie spoke he attacked President Obama for his inability to work across the aisle.

“I just don’t see any objective efforts that the President wants to have those relationships with the members of congress, because it’s horrible,” Christie said.

The New Jersey Governor went on to highlight his successful relationship with Senate President Steve Sweeney as a reason why he’s been able to accomplish so much in the Garden State.

Without delay, the 2016 presidential election also came up at the summit where Christie was asked about potentially running against Jeb Bush. Christie responded by saying that would be difficult for him because he considers Jeb a friend.

“I like Jeb, I respect him, I consider him a friend, I consider President Bush 43 a friend, and you don’t like to run against people who are your friends, you’d rather run against people you don’t like, it’s easier,” Christie confirmed.

He also mentioned that he’s thought about running for president in 2016 and that his plan to move forward with that decision will be made at a later time.

Christie also had to address the $800 million budget shortfall that New Jersey is facing and he plans to address his plans to balance the budget next week.
