CITRUS SPRINGS (FOX 13) -

Deputies are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Citrus Springs that left one man dead.

It happened just before 10 p.m. on Hampshire Boulevard, and the sheriff's office has identified the suspect as David James Barclay, 41, of Dunnellon.

Deputies say Barclay was armed and entered the home of his estranged wife and son. Her roommate was inside but was able to escape and call for help.

A SWAT team was called to the scene while the man barricaded himself inside with the woman and child.

When Barclay walked outside of the home, he apparently fired shots. Four officers opened fire, killing him.

Everyone else was unharmed.

The four officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave, which is standard practice after officer-involved shootings.
