She is the one lady many can count on.
"She always makes me proud when I'm good in school," said 8-year-old Ja'Quavis Haggins.
She often steals the heart of her kids right away.
"I love my mom so much. I won't stop loving her," said Haggins.
For Haggin's mom, Dorbethia Boyd, Mother's Day is not about flowers or gifts.
"What makes Mother's Day so special to me is just being with my kids, being around them all day everyday," said Boyd.
Dwayne Diaz agrees.
"You really have to cherish and appreciate your mother because it takes a lot of nurturing and time to raise kids, and it took a lot of time to raise me," he said.
Diaz's mom lives in Baltimore, but he takes time almost every day to thank his mom.
"I love her. I just thank her for everything that she has done for me," said Diaz.
Karen Arredondo spent time at Curtis Hixon Park with her family.
"To me, if I'm half of what my mom is, I'm doing a great job. She is my role model and my inspiration," she said.
She can't wait for what her future holds.
"It is an extra special Mother's Day because I'm expecting my second," said Arredondo.
Her sister in-law Dianna Dernulc knows the feeling.
"Two years ago I found out that I was pregnant. Two years ago my son was my gift on Mother's Day," she said.
She knows her mom helped her each step of the way.
"Mom, I love you with all my heart thank you for everything that you've done for me and my brothers and for sacrificing so much your the best mom that I could have ever of asked for," said Dernulc.
It is the smallest gestures and the simple words.
"I love you mommy, XOXOXO," said Kennedi Dernulc.
That always seem to make the best presents.
