FHP looking for hit-and-run driver in Hernando

Florida Highway Patrol looking for a hit and run driver that seriously injured a pedestrian in Hernando County.

It happened just before 9 p.m. Saturday at Landover Boulevard, just north of Thornberry Drive.

Troopers say a vehicle was driving north on Landover Boulevard and was approaching two pedestrians walking along the side of the road. The vehicle partially left the roadway onto the shoulder and hit 44-year-old David Smith of Spring Hill.

Smith was taken to Oak Hill Hospital with serious injuries. He was later transferred to Bayonet Point.

The other pedestrian was not injured.

Troopers say the vehicle is a dark colored, late model car with suspected heavy front right end and headlight damage.
