Bradenton singer's American Idol dream ends

BRADENTON (FOX 13) -

A local singer's dream of becoming the next American Idol has ended.

Bradenton's Sam Woolf was voted off the show Thursday night, ending a memorable run in the competition. He was sent home after a big twist on the show.

Before the results were announced, the top five had the chance to keep everyone safe this week – but only if they unanimously agreed to it.

In a secret ballot, two of the finalists voted to send someone home. We hear it was Alex and Jena.

"I mean, for me, I'm really happy to make it this far because I didn't think I'd ever make it this far and it's been such an awesome experience meeting everyone," Woolf said. "I feel like I've really grown since I've been here."

It was a great run for Woolf, whose friends at Braden River High School are showing their appreciation. The tweets of support rolled in after the elimination.
