Lightning player to face judge on DUI charge

TAMPA (FOX 13) -

A Tampa Bay Lightning player will face a judge Wednesday on DUI charges.

Ryan Malone was pulled over a few weeks ago by Tampa Police after he hit a curb. The officer said Malone failed a blood-alcohol test. He also found cocaine in his pocket.

Because of the incident, Malone missed the Lightning's playoff run. His future with the team is still uncertain. He's been with the Lightning since 2008 when he signed a seven-year contract worth $31.5 million

The NHL says Malone is currently enrolled in the league's substance abuse program.
