A man from Seffner is accused of blocking people's cell phones during his morning and evening commute.
The Federal Communications Commission says Jason Humphreys operated a cell phone jammer out of his Toyota Highlander SUV.
It created a quiet zone around his vehicle.
Cell phone carrier Metro PCS noticed something was wrong between Seffner and Tampa.
In a released report, the FCC said Humpreys admitted to using the jammer for nearly two years. He said he did it to prevent people from using their cell phones while they drove around him.
He faces a fine of $48,000.
Jammers are illegal and they don't just block cell phone calls. They can also interfere with police and EMS radio.
In the report, authorities said their radios were jammed as they stopped his vehicle along the interstate.
You can report the use or sale of a jammer to the FCC by calling 1 (855) 55NOJAM.
