PORT RICHEY (FOX 13) -
Underneath the swelling and stitches, 7-year-old Shaina Foreman's smile still shines brightly.
"She's has had a rough day today to be honest. She's in a lot of pain," said Siobahn Foreman.
Shaina's parents spoke outside Tampa General Hospital, where Shaina is recovering from a dog bite.
"She is such a strong little girl and just sweet as can be even still," said her dad Sam Woolfson.
Pasco animal services said a chocolate lab bit her.
The attack happened late Friday afternoon on Corinth Street in Port Richey.
Her mom said it happened inside a friend's house.
When Shaina went to her friends’ bedroom to get a game, everyone else in the house heard a noise.
"As soon as we heard the dog grow, me and another adult ran. I picked her up immediately and saw the injury and blood," said Foreman.
Her injuries were horrific.
"In biting, the upper teeth tend to pull, and it pulled the eye lids off their attachment, and divided the upper lid in half. The lower lid was also in half, and the nose also came off with that whole portion," said Dr. Chuck Slonim.
A team of plastic surgeons and doctors pieced her face back together.
But it is possible she'll face more surgeries.
Shaina's mom said the dog never showed any signs of aggressive behavior .
"She's played ball with this dog. The dog was raised with a child," said Foreman.
Pasco Animal Control said the owner told them the dog was aggressive towards kids and had bitten another child before.
Shaina's mom says the dog doesn't deserve another chance.
"The damage that he did to my daughter is extensive. I think that he should be euthanized," said Foreman.
The dog is currently under quarantine at animal control.
