Lewis Center, OH- Two young wrestlers came together to help raise funds for autism awareness in their community.
Caiden Hooks and Brandon Cannon found out during a wrestling match on Sunday that they helped collect nearly $3,000 for the cause.
Hooks is blind and has Asperger syndrome. The two boys became fast friends after a recent tournament and decided to help out the cause. They went door-to-door to ask for donations and even started a Facebook page.
Hooks' dad, Jamie Hooks, says news coverage and social media helped the movement.
"It's really been an awesome experience to see the community kind of embrace that effort and get involved with it so it's really cool," he said.
Hooks' dad also says it may take a while for his son to understand the significance of what he and Cannon were able to accomplish.
