Only On Fox: Grieving Widow Says Burglar Stole Her Wedding Ring

Posted: Updated:

A heartbroken South Jersey woman says a burglar stole something from her she can never replace.

It's a story you'll only see on Fox 29.

What their marriage lacked in time.

"Two years, just over two years," Kte Snyder said.

Kate and Brett Snyder made up for with love.

"Brett was extremely fun. He made everything fun no matter what was happening," she said.

Sixth months after exchanging their vows, a cancerous tumor formed on Brett's brain.

"He went through two rounds of radiation and five different chemotherapies, but none of them worked. It just kept growing," she said.

A year and a half later, Brett died on February 21st, 2012 at 35.

Lovingly nicknamed Bretty Crocker, his ashes are kept in an urn shaped like a casserole dish.

Even after her only husband passed, Kate continued to wear her wedding ring.

"It was a symbol of that. I wasn't ready to let that go. Even today I'm not ready to let that go," she said.

Tuesday night she left it at her South Jersey home while attending a church event.

She said someone came in through the back door and swiped her jewelry, including her wedding band.

"Nothing else matters. The earrings don't matter. Everything else that was taken, it doesn't matter. I just want my ring back," she said.

She's called around to several area pawn shops, but hasn't been able to find a piece of jewelry, that connects her to a piece of her husband.

"Please return it. Return my ring. I don't know what would bring you to a place to do this and I'm sorry you're in a place you have to do that, but I would really just like my ring back," she said.

Snyder said police told her several others in her area were also burglarized Tuesday.

Police say they are investigating.
