The Tampa Bay Rays owner said he's keeping his options open when it comes to a new team home.
Stuart Sternberg's latest remarks came during Major League Baseball's Diversity Business Summit in New York. He participated in a panel discussion and addressed what's next for the team. The Tampa Bay Rays lease for Tropicana Field in St.Petersburg runs through 2027.
"Tampa is obviously very, very attractive on the list, and we expect to at some point – hopefully sooner – look there, as well as some other parts of the region," Sternberg said.
There has been chatter about a new stadium for years. Tampa Bay has not drawn more than 2 million fans at home since its first season in 1998.
