Website ranks East Point 'most dangerous suburb' in America

Posted: Updated:
EAST POINT, Ga. -

East Point has been named number one in America, but in this case it's not exactly something to be proud of.

According to Real Estate website Movoto.com, the Atlanta suburb is the 'most dangerous suburb in the nation'.

According to the blog, the list was created by comparing the crime data of 116 different suburban cities. The site looked at crimes like murders, property thefts, and other violent crimes for 2012.

Many residents that live in the suburb do not agree with the website's claim.

"I feel protected and I belong somewhere and it's a cool area to be in," says East Point resident Althea Glover. "They just assume. That's all it is, an assumption. I know for a fact it's not dangerous."

East Point Police are upset by this ranking. They claim the data, the numbers, and the way the ranking was tallied was wrong.

East Point is not the only Atlanta suburb on the list. Smyrna is ranked 34th and Sandy Springs is number 46 on the list.
